What colors can I use in a chapel with burgundy carpet?
I am trying to choose wedding colors and the chapel has dark burgundy carpet. The location is an important place to both of us and we aren't considering moving the ceremony. I have dreamed of using purple as a major color in my wedding, maybe with a brown. I like lighter purples like David's Bridal's wild orchid. Will this clash? How important is it to match location and what other colors could I use if I don't go with purple?
The color of the carpet may show up in any photos you do in the chapel. If you are worried about a clash, when you start looking for bridesmaid dresses, flowers, etc. mention the color scheme of the chapel and ask for their recommendations.
Edit: I have been to few weddings where I personally paid attention to the color of the carpet. However, I have seen a number of wedding pictures where the wedding party is arranged on the steps of the altar and the carpet becomes part of the picture. So if you plan to take photos at the altar, I still say (despite the thumbs down) that if the carpet is really a concern, consult with people who deal with coordinating colors for weddings all the time like florists, bridal shop, etc.
