hamster 9-1-1!!!!!!!!!?
my hamster has these 2 HUGE bulges on his sides and it's scaring me! his eyes will barely even open! he barely moves and when i picked him up and felt his sides one of the bugles felt like there were seed sized lumps on his side. My friend tyler said she thought it was a tumor or a growth but idk. Can someone plz help a gurl out!
and its not in the cheeks!
This sounds like an inflimation. Book your hamster into the vet imediatley. It could also be overgrown teeth, try and open your hamsters mouth and have a look inside, I know you don't think it is but have a check.
Have you gaven your pet any sticky toffees, because occasionally they become jammed in the hamsters cheek pouches which have a dry lining normally. A vet will flush out theese pouches.
Perhaps your hamster is pregnant? How long ago did you get her (if it is a her if not then he is not pregnant).
Read this extract I have copied from one of my hamster first aid books I think perhaps this may be the problem:
Constipation.
This is often seen in young hamsters. Constipated hamsters are miserable, exhibit swollen abdomens and frequently bulging anuses.
Cure: Use 'Micralax' enemas and provide milk 'pobs', oatmeal porridge, fresh greens and soft fruit. Plenty of water.
Okay really hoped this helped, but just to be sure call your local vet or animal welfare branch and ask them to listen and advice. It is a lot less stressful for a hamster to stay at home and you treat it then bringing it into a scarey over-smelly vet.
