What are the fashion rules for wearing gloves with a formal gown?
Color, length, when to take them off, etc?

Well the colour all depends on your formal gown.
I wouldn't make them too long because it will look like you are getting married so I would say for the length, about the elbow length.
I'm pretty sure that you only take them off when you're indoors, dancing and eating.
It is your choice as to wether or not your decide to wear them. If you decide on wearing gloves, take my advice.
