I bought my mum a gold plated bangle, but she's got a skin allergy to it? Can you be allergic to pure gold?
I couldn't afford a solid gold bangle and bought a gold plated one- is that the reason she's allergic to it. I know some people can't wear any metal jewellery and gold's still a metal, isn't it?, so what I'm asking is if she would still be allergic if it was solid gold?
It is a possibility to be allergic to pure gold, but it is not common. I am allergic to some metals, but not all metals. I can't have anything less than 12ct gold on my skin and nothing less than 18 in my skin. The higher the plated gold is, the better chance she won't break out more than likely. To get the best answer, she would have to be tested by a doctor.
