Woman wearing stockings, what about your garter belt ?

To avoid irritations about different styles:
Do you prefer garter belts to go with decorating satin ribbons on the clasps ?
Or is it better, say more cute, sexy, practical without that funny stuff ?
Is there any benefit for such ornamentation ?
Can they really hide bumps under tight clothes ?

The little ribbons are really inconsequential. The big problems is ones with the straps too long. They may look good on the 5'10" Victoria secret models, but they are way too long for a 5' 5" average height girl. I like the simple satin garter belts, with a double hook bra clasp in back, and the shortest straps possible. I cut a lot of mine off and sew them back on shorter. The higher you wear the stockings, the shorter the strap needs to be, and they are less likely to show the bumps, or the stocking tops if your skirt is short. I wear over the knee pencil skirts to work everyday, with stockings and a garter belt, and have no problems. If the skirt is not lined, a simple half slip will hide the garter bumps.

Also the flat stamped metal clasps, will show much less than the larger clasps made from wire.
