One day Lord Krishna was taking His flute and singing, and was also in a position and mood of dancing . Seeing this, all the peacocks of the forest thought, "Oh, He is like a cloud, a new cloud full of water." As soon as they saw Krishna, they began to dance to the tune of His flute. They thought, "Oh, this vamsi-walla (player of the flute) is so very expert, and I can dance so well to His tune." They therefore gave Him a peacock feather as a gift. Krishna took it and He always keeps it on His head, as a donation from the peacock.'
