Has anyone ever tried the satin ball diet on their dog?

I have a dobbie who has lost quiet a bit of weight. He has been to the vet and had a diagnosis that has to do with his intestines. I have not discussed doing this type of diet with my vet yet but I am planning on it before I do try it. He is currently on a low residue diet and canned weight gain food. This has helped stop the weigh loss and I think he may have even put on a pound. It has been a slow pound but its a pound. My friend recommended this diet and she said it helped put weight on her dog. My question is has anyone else used it and had it be successful for their dog. Thanks so much.
Thank you for the answers so far.
I did say I was going to consult my vet and I have a phone call into them as we speak since it was a weekend and not an emergency I chose to wait until today to call. I would never change the diet WITHOUT talking to my vet. I was just trying to see if anyone had success with the diet.
Again thank you for your answers.

No,I would not do it.If your dog has digestive issues,it may make it worse,as satin balls have Total cereal and oatmeal in them.A few things you might be able to try ( with your vet's permission) are ground lamb, cooked rice, cooked carrots, potatoes and apples, made into a sort of stew to add to his dog food. Some full-fat goat's milk yogurt might help as well. These things are all easy on the belly and intestines, but as I said, ask your vet before adding anything.
