How are you supposed to wear your engagement ring and wedding ring?

I sort of thought that you were supposed to wear your engagement ring with your wedding ring on second, but apparently it doesn't matter at all? As long as they're on your ring finger on your left hand it's fine. Or is there a specific rule?

Most women I know, including myself, wear the engagement ring on top of the wedding band. This is an older tradition and stems from "the wedding band should be worn closest to the heart." However, some women do choose the opposite. It's really a matter of personal choice.
